The workforce training sector in the United States is large but fragmented. Practitioners and researchers alike have struggled to understand the sector as a system that includes different types of providers and to identify where these providers are located and available to serve workers' and employers' needs and aspirations. In response, the Project on Workforce at Harvard University is releasing the beta version of the Workforce Almanac Data Portal. Supported by WorkRise, the Almanac is a first-of-its-kind, open-source directory and interactive portal of nearly 17,000 workforce training providers across the United States, including provider names, location, and types. In this webinar, the Project on Workforce will be joined by a panel to discuss the value of a system-level view of workforce training in the U.S.

Immediately following the webinar, will be an interactive workshop session with the Workforce Almanac research leads focused on how to use Workforce Almanac Data Portal. This session will include a keynote discussion on the Workforce Almanac motivations and next steps, a brief tour and interactive activities around the Almanac Portal, and an open-floor Q&A. This workshop is targeted towards policy makers, workforce boards, training providers, employers, researchers, and any other stakeholders who want to understand how use the tool to integrate Almanac data with resource allocation, match learners and workers to training and employment opportunities, and explore geospatial dimensions of this data – along with much more.
