This brief focuses on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on family employment, financial security, and material hardship among nonelderly Hispanic adults, drawing on data from March and April 2020. The report finds that a higher share of Hispanic adults, citizen and noncitizen alike, lost a job, work hours, or work-related income because of the coronavirus outbreak than their white non-Hispanic and Black non-Hispanic counterparts. This research can inform policymakers about how to support workers harmed the most during crises, such as by amending emergency aid and public benefit laws.
